Social Skills Pedagogy
About this Project
My client wanted learners to memorize the steps of the direct teaching sequence for social skills instead of relying learning aids. In other to achieve this, I created these modules to both teach and reinforce these important steps. Learners could read through several flash cards with information on the steps, then practiced what they learned in a series of games and quizzes.

While matching games are not perfect in every situation, they are valuable tools when the goal is memorization of information. In this game, learners need to match the steps of directly teaching a social skill so that they can call on them without needing to refer to an external aid.
My client wanted to ensure that learners could apply the steps for direct teaching and preparatory teaching when appropriate. To help them practice doing so, I created a sorting activity in which they have to differentiate between the procedures and applications of both.
Custom-made animations illustrate each of the steps of directly teaching a social skill.
Rather than relying on text, I used footage of the presenter to create supplementary videos on topics that are much better taught by seeing and hearing the presenter.
